2015 Summer Camp for Elementary School Students was carried out in the Churches of God throughout Korea to foster students’ faith and emotional development.

For this camp, which was held the second time, following the one in the last winter break, the pastoral staff and teachers of each local church had prepared the classes wholeheartedly, discussing the programs. As a result, they could bring forth diverse programs for the students according to the level of each age group, which helped them enjoy the camp despite sultriness that lasted for days.

During the Bible study, teachers did not teach unilaterally but communicated with the students joyfully through Biblical character role play, Bible quiz, and presentation and discussion on how to practice Mother’s Teachings. On top of that, recreation, including learning New Songs and a talent show, enlivened the students all through the camp.

In particular, diverse work-study programs drew their attention and excited their senses: making pencil vase, fan, and calendar; experimenting with a model of volcano; making watermelon salad, egg bun, red-bean sherbet (patbingsu), and many more. They also visited a library and learned reading comprehension strategies. The parents who supported the summer camp with much interest expressed their gratitude, “Students are likely to be addicted to computer games or television during vacations. But thanks to this camp, they could learn through experience and study the Bible, which is hard to do alone at home. Learning unity and consideration while having fun with their friends is another gain.”

“Staying with cheerful children, I could spend hot summer lively,” said the teachers. Closing the camp, they expressed their wish, “It was a meaningful time to discover the new strengths of the children. We’d like to see their growth process by participating in the next camp again with them.”
