"Lead All Mankind to Repent of Their Sins by Blowing the Trumpet Loud"

  • Nation | South Korea
  • Date | September 30, 2008
God established the seven feasts in three times according to the works of Moses, through which He showed the work of salvation which Christ would fulfill in the future. Also, God let His children keep the feasts holy so that they could understand the principle of salvation and receive its blessing. On September 30 (the 1st day of the seventh month in the sacred calendar), the Sacred Assembly of the Feast of Trumpets 2008 was held at the Churches of God all around the world.

The Feast of Trumpets originated from the following event: Moses went up Mount Sinai to receive the Ten Commandments. While he was staying on the mountain for 40 days, the Israelites made a golden calf, which was an idol, and worshiped it. When Moses saw this, he broke the tablets of the Ten Commandments. After that, the Israelites took off their ornaments and truly repented of their sin. Then Moses received the second tablets of the Ten Commandments from God and came down from the mountain on the 10th day of the seventh month, which was the Day of Atonement. To prepare for the Day of Atonement, the Israelites blew the trumpet of repentance ten days before the Day of Atonement. This was the Feast of Trumpets (Exodus 32-34; Lev 23:23-25).

On the Feast of Trumpets, Mother offered a prayer of thanks to Father for having opened the way to salvation by establishing the seven feasts in three times-the truth of life-through His sacrifice. She also prayed earnestly that Her children would be redeemed from all their sins by keeping the feasts, completely realizing the meaning of every feast. In addition, Mother encouraged Her children in Zion to proclaim God’s salvation, accomplished through the feasts, to the whole world, and blessed them by saying, “Bear abundant fruits by celebrating the holy feasts wholeheartedly, with joy and thankfulness.”

General Pastor Joo-Cheol Kim preached a sermon on the origin and meaning of the Feast of Trumpets and urged the members to be born again as God’s children whom God is pleased with, by confessing every sin they had committed before God and being forgiven for all their sins, saying, “Only those who achieve complete repentance can perform the mission to save the world.” In addition, he urged the members, saying, “Let’s quickly lead numerous souls, who are in danger because they do not know the will of God and so fail to obey His will, to salvation by blowing the trumpet of repentance even louder towards the whole world.”

The members gave thanks to God for giving them time to repent of their sins through the holy feast. From the evening of the Feast of Tabernacles, they gathered together in Zion, the city of the appointed feasts, early in the morning and in the evening as well for ten days, and earnestly asked for the forgiveness of sins. By doing so, they prepared for the Day of Atonement.
