On June 10, 40 members of the Church of God in Jeonju volunteered to serve the seniors at the 'Party for the Senior' hosted by the 'Shinchon Downtown Flourish Committee' located in Wansan-gu, Jeonju. The members revealed the glory of God by making the party a success through their hard working.

This voluntary work was arranged by the request of the downtown flourish committee who had a good impression of the Church of God. The Church willingly accepted their request and promised them positive support and also delivered some contribution.

In this event Wan Ju Kim the Jeonju City Mayor, Wun Gi Cho the Wansan Ward Head and many officials participated and comforted the aged.

The party was held at the Shinchon Park. The volunteers from the Church made arrangements for the party, served food, guided the aged and helped them have their lunch comfortably, washed dishes and cleaned the place.

The other day, they prepared food together with the committee members, and on the event day they gave delight to the seniors by heartfelt service from noon to 3 o'clock.

At the party, various foods were served. Among them, Bulgogi which was grilled on charcoal was the most favorite of them. The weather was very hot, but a woman volunteer who was grilling beef over the charcoal said with a bright smile, "Though it is hot, I'm very happy to serve them like my parents. I wish them to eat this Bulgogi deliciously and live long in good health."

After lunch, traditional Korean music was performed. During the performances, the volunteers massaged the seniors' shoulders, arms and legs and had a pleasant talk. A woman senior said, "Thank you very much! We are very pleased to see young people doing good and wonderful work. Thank you so much!"

The concerned officials and the merchants also expressed their appreciation, saying, "Thanks to the members of the Church of God, the event became a success. We are very thankful to them." Hee Jun Choi the chairman of the downtown flourish committee commended the volunteers, "The Church members are model citizens, and the inhabitants and the merchants have had a good impression of them. Today, too, they voluntarily work for the seniors. They are like angels."

At first, they guessed about 80 seniors would come to the party, but over 300 seniors took part in the event.

Pastor Gyeong Su Kim who supported the event said, "We volunteered to help the seniors according to the God's commandment, 'Love your neighbor.' And by following the word, 'Be joyful always,' we were commanded. We are happy to be able to reveal the glory of God by our good deeds. We truly give our thanks to God who's raised us to be people of Zion who receive honor and praise among all the peoples."
