The Messiah Orchestra had conveyed the message of love and emotions to many people through the heavenly melodies, and this time they visited Daejeon where tradition and high-tech science coexist. They held the 15th Messiah Orchestra Concert at the Korea Trade Exhibition Center in Daejeon, wishing the success of the “2010 Visit Chungcheong-Korea” campaign held throughout the year to introduce Chungcheong, which is blessed with beautiful natural scenery and warm-hearted people, to the world.

At this concert held on June 6, over 10,000 people, including the members of the Churches of God in the Daejeon area and Chungcheong citizens, filled the hall, and it was a great success. Many prominent figures were invited to the concert, including Lee Sung-woo, Secretary General of the Organizing Committee for the 2010 Great Baekje World Festival which is the greatest event during the 2010 Visit Chungcheong-Korea, Hwang Myeong-seon, Mayor of Nonsan City, Alan J. Buglass, Professor at KAIST, and Marcin Edmund Niesiolowski, Professor at Jeonnam University. They shared the meaning of the concert and their touching emotions together. Especially, 320 members of the 44th Overseas Visiting Group, who came to Korea the country of Mother to learn the truth of the Bible, also attended the concert and attracted the attention of many people at the concert.

Before the concert, General Pastor Joo-Cheol Kim gave thanks to God for allowing the meaningful concert to be held in the province of loyalty and fi lial piety, and introduced the Church, saying, “The Church of God believes in God the Mother who is testified in the Bible.” And he added, “We’ve been holding the tour concerts to convey Mother’s warm love to the whole world.” Then he wished that all the citizens of Chungcheong would become one through the power of music, which binds hearts together, and that the concert would inject vitality into the community to make the “2010 Visit Chungcheong-Korea” a great success.

When the concert started, all the audience gave their full attention to the orchestra on stage. The concert consisted of various musical genres such as classical music, Korean songs, performances by the barbershop quartet along with the orchestra, and the New Songs. When the concert ended, the audience gave a standing ovation and acclamation. As a response to a curtain call, the Messiah Orchestra performed the “Colonel Bogey March” which is the soundtrack for the movie “The Bridge on the River Kwai.” With the cheerful music, the orchestra finished the concert.

Lee Sung-woo, Secretary General of the Great Baekje World Festival Organizing Committee, said, “The Organizing Committee members are also very excited and encouraged because of this great event held for the success of the ‘2010 Visit Chungcheong-Korea.’ Although this is the fi rst time for this kind of event to be held by a church, many citizens attended and hundreds of foreigners were also invited, so I expect that it will increase the promotional effect all the more.”

Niklaas from Germany, who joined the 44 th Overseas Visiting Group, expressed his joy by saying, “It was an amazing performance which was comparable to that of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. It is probably because the performance contained Mother’s love and concern for neighbors. The emotions I felt today will last long in my heart, along with the memories of my visit to Korea.” The citizens also expressed their gratitude to the Messiah Orchestra for presenting an impressive performance for the people of Chungcheong. One of them said, “I’ve been through tough times because of the economic difficulties as well as the hot weather. But after attending the concert, I feel refreshed and light-hearted as if I am flying through the air. It was a really dynamic performance.”
