Washington D.C., which is located between the state of Maryland and the state of Virginia, is the capital city of the United States. It is managed by the Federal Government of the U.S. but does not belong to any state, so it is called the District of Columbia. Since the major federal government institutions like the White House and the Federal Assembly Hall are gathered here, a large percentage of the people are employed by the federal government.
I was sent here as a prophet in 2008. My heart was burning and I was full of expectation to be able to take the same path of our Heavenly Father and Mother.
Mother’s words always came to my mind:
“God is not pleased when we are disappointed and dwell on it.”
The words Mother gave me when I first visited Korea always help me overcome any situation. No matter what hardship would befall me, I decided to hold on to Mother’s word and desired to truly devote myself to pleasing God in Washington D.C. just like Jacob held on to God to receive His blessing.

Humble beginning, prosperous future
When there was no Zion in Washington D.C., a brother who lived there drove about 4 hours every Friday to keep the Sabbath day in New York Zion. Despite persecution from his wife, he continued to do this for about a year. I feel God was really moved by his faith so Heavenly Mother allowed a short-term preaching mission to Washington D.C. in the summer of 2007.
Brothers and sisters from Korea and NY Zion united with one love to save the souls who were in the famine of hearing the words of God. Thankfully, I could also participate in the preaching mission.
The location for the short-term mission was Fairfax, which is one of the most prominent cities in Virginia and is about 25 minutes away from downtown Washington D.C. This was the first time we were preaching about Heavenly Mother directly here and because of this we saw the great miracle of life.
After showing a few verses, people discerned the truth and were reborn as children of Mother without hesitation.
Through the first short-term mission, the Washington D.C. Church was established. It developed from a house Church to an office Church, and was ready to display the glory of Father and Mother.
After the short term mission, I prayed eagerly to go back to Washington D.C. The year 2008 was the year of grace when my dream came true. When my wife and I arrived in D.C., Father and Mother allowed us a good fruit the very first day to encourage us!

Though the Washington D.C. Church was an office Church, it was small and had a few members at that time. This situation reminded me of the humble beginnings of Zion, when Father started to preach the gospel. Though our path could not be compared to Father and Mother’s path, we were all very thankful that we could partake in this blessing and preached the gospel harder.
As I said before, most people here work for the federal government. For this reason many are on their guard and very reluctant to open their hearts to others. Despite this, Father and
Mother’s word, which is sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrates even their hardened hearts and many people have come and turned back to the Spirit and the Bride.
As the lost heavenly family members returned to Zion one after another, we were able to branch off to a house Church in Richmond, the capital of Virginia, and the Washington D.C. Church was moved to a new office in 2010. After receiving the mission of the ten talents from Mother in 2010, our brothers and sisters realized we would need a bigger temple to accomplish the mission. So they voluntarily worked for that and put their hearts and minds in every place of the temple.
Through another short-term mission with the NY Church members, many beautiful souls were led to Zion. Our members reached 100 soon and now we have over 200 members. We cannot help but realize that Father and Mother Themselves lead everything, holding our hands.
Like flowing water, like burning fire
There was a time that we were not bearing much fruit. Since our growth was at a standstill, we were sorry toward God and were anxious. After much prayer without being disappointed as Mother said, we realized how obligatory and insincere our preaching efforts had become. We even forgot the core of the gospel and the reason we should preach. It was Elohim God.
Our Father and Mother Themselves readily came to this earth to save us from the way of death in this Holy Spirit’s age. We had to boldly testify and boast about God of love, who was sacrificed for us and whom we forgot. It is only right that we return to Father and Mother, renewing our mind through this work.
Beautiful fruit began to be borne again. All current members were awakened and obeyed the words of God all the more, and their drive and willing mind to please Father and Mother became stronger.
Though every brother and sister has special characteristics, they all display our Father and Mother’s love in one mind. Brothers and sisters devote their time, mind and heart to saving a soul to be counted worthy of being the children who will inherit the kingdom of heaven.
There is a sister who does not let anyone go in front of her without testifying to the truth. She fears that one of our heavenly family members may walk by without hearing about the truth that Father and Mother have entrusted to us. She feels the urgency to preach like the Good Samaritan who saved the life of a man who fell into the hands of robbers and was dying, without leaving him alone. With this mind, many members gather at the metro station to preach at dawn when people are on their way to work.

Washington D.C. is categorized as the place with the worst traffic in the United States, so people are forced to wake up in the very early hours of the day in order to make it on time to the workplace. It is a good opportunity to preach the word even to those in the government and high-level officials.
Their efforts are a beautiful scent of the gospel that is spread among all the members of Zion and has sparked the fire within them. One sister, who is usually sleepy-headed, started to join the early morning preaching, overcoming the sleep. After only a couple of days she excitedly exclaimed that she had never felt so much energy and excitement and is continuously preaching the gospel vigorously.
Stagnant water becomes polluted. It can only be purified when the water is streaming constantly. We cannot fulfill the gospel with a mind like stagnant water. When we participate in the gospel with a burning heart just as we did at the beginning, the gospel will be developed. The Washington D.C. Church is renewed every day by preaching the gospel without rest like the flowing water and with the burning fervor deep in the heart.
God the Mother’s people who gather through Mother’s love
There is a famous university nearby. Since we often preach there, the school knows of the Church of God and refers to us as the “God the Mother’s people.” Yes, we are definitely God the Mother’s people. So we preach about Mother’s love.
At the beginning when we delivered the truth of God the Mother, many people wanted to learn more with interest in it and willingly received the truth. However, no one came to Zion constantly to build up their faith and to grow to be a gospel worker.
We realized that there was something lacking.
We remembered our own experiences and what it was we felt that made us yearn for Zion. We all realized that it was to feel at home in Zion. It is possible through mother.
Just as a home is empty and desolate without mother, we cannot lead any heavenly family member without Mother’s warm heart.
Heavenly Mother loves us so much that She even regards Her inexpressible sacrifice as joy. As Mother’s love is always accompanied by sacrifice, we also needed to be sacrificed to put into practice Mother’s love, though our sacrifice is beyond compare with Mother’s sacrifice. However, all members willingly served one another.
There is a member who always smiles though he must be very tired because of his hard work. Another brother who is old and a former CEO of his own company always humbles himself and serves all members with full devotion and love. With him in Zion, we are reminded of Father’s humble mind. There is another gracious brother. Even though he is so quiet, when he speaks, the brothers are very moved by him and feel a sense of warmth and come to realize that we are truly heavenly family.
All members regard Zion as their home. The brothers and sisters always check to see if there is anything necessary in Zion and want to partake in any activity done in Zion, having the mind of a master. There is no great or small task in Zion. Our brothers and
sisters consider every blessing in Zion as a precious treasure given by God.
As Mother has said that the sole of the foot is not visible but without it we cannot walk, so is the same with the brothers and sisters who sacrifice in Zion. Though it may not be seen directly, their efforts and sacrifice contribute greatly to Zion’s glory.
Newcomers visit Zion twice, three times and become good gospel workers.
God’s children are gathered through Mother’s love. Since many heavenly members continuously come from the George Mason University that referred to us as the “God the Mother’s people,” we have unofficially changed its name to “God the Mother’s University.”
Seeking beautiful materials for the construction of the temple at the Feast of Tabernacles
Just as the engines of an airplane should be warmed up first before taking off, we should start the fervor of preaching a week before the Feast of Tabernacles. For this all the brothers and sisters preached the gospel mornings and evenings to find heavenly family members, the materials for the construction of the Heavenly Jerusalem Temple in the age of the harvest. Fruits that had gracious stories were led one by one.
A brother was able to lead his supervisors to the truth. They stated that they had always wondered why this brother was always so happy, even while at work. One of our sisters did not bear fruit until the last day during the preaching week though she preached the Word hard. While the sister was walking to Zion, a person asked her where the bathroom was. The sister showed her the way and was able to lead the soul to Zion.
Through the Feast of Tabernacles, God granted us a great gift as well as the fruit of the Holy Spirit. The Washington D.C.
Church was allowed a new sanctuary. New members who were widely experienced in construction were led in time. Being given the new sanctuary, we were and still are joyful in knowing that all the beautiful materials and the skillful workers, phy-sically and spiritually, will be brought forth by Father and Mother. We felt that the Washington D.C. Church was a part of prophecy fulfillment.
The new Church building is situated on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. It is located very close to the White House and is surrounded by the most prestigious government officials. Capitol Hill is also home to the most lawyers and lawmakers in the entire world. They declare the rights and freedoms for the people of this nation to live a better and brighter future. We the people of Zion, who are guided by the Spirit and the Bride who are the true Counselor and Lawmaker, have confidence that our bright future will surely be accomplished here. We will powerfully preach about heavenly citizenship and the law of eternal freedom guaranteed through Mother so that all kings of the world will see the glory of Heavenly Mother.
The present goal of the Washington D.C. Church is to have the new sanctuary overflowing with beautiful materials that can shine our Father and Mother’s glory.
Furthermore, we also hope that Zions will be built in neighboring cities where the light of the gospel has yet to be shone. As in the time of Nehemiah, each of us will put all our heart and strength in carrying out the mission given to us with the shovel to construct the new temple in one hand, and the sword to preach the gospel in the other.
