Dedication Service for the Donggu Church in Goyang, Korea

Another home of salvation has been built in Goyang City which is well known as the salubrious city thanks to its harmony with nature. It is the Donggu Church in Goyang, which moved from Janghang-dong to Pung-dong in Ilsandong-gu. The members of the Donggu Church, who took the lead in performing good deeds such as street clean up campaigns and consolatory visits to close-by senior citizen centers after finishing the remodeling of the temple in June, had a joyful moment of dedication of the new temple with the pastoral staff and the members from neighboring churches on August 6th.

Through the dedication service held along with the Third-day service, Mother gave a prayer of thanks to Heavenly Father for enlarging the temple which had been crowded with increasing children, and asked Him to bless the Donggu Church to be united all the time and to receive compliments through their deeds full of love and consideration. Mother expressed Her thanks to the members of the construction department and the church members, who worked hard in the hot weather until the temple was completed. Mother encouraged them, saying, “Now is a hard time due to the global economic depression. Please do not forget that the glorious kingdom of heaven is our eternal home, and overcome your present sufferings with the hope for heaven.”

General Pastor Kim Joo-cheol explained the powerful works of God, which were shown to people in the Bible such as Elijah, Peter, Naaman and so on including the work God did by letting the water come out of the rock for the people traveling in the desert. And he said with an emphasis, “We need to know in what form Almighty God, who created the heavens and the earth and brings salvation, exists. From the first page to the last page, the Bible testifies about God the Mother as well as God the Father. The role of the church is to worship God testified in the Bible and to obey His words.” Then he concluded the sermon with well-wishing remarks, “Let’s have pride as members of the church that believes in God the Mother, and promote [which is a homonym of “Goyang” in Korean] the right faith to the community members of Goyang City through God’s letters, the Bible” (Ex 17:1-6; 1 Ki 17:1-7; 2 Ki 5:1-14; Jn 21:3-11; Ge 1:26-27; Rev 22:17).

The building of the Donggu Church in Goyang is three stories underground and five stories above ground. It has a two-story main worship hall with 800 seats and various subsidiary facilities such as education rooms, audio-visual rooms, a reception room, a multipurpose hall, a cafeteria, a parking lot and so on. The residents seemed to welcome the beautiful temple and the bright smile and good deeds of the members. It is said that neighboring store owners and the apartment residents compliment the church members continually.

The members, elated by their long-awaited new temple, were filled with passion to work for the gospel with a new mindset. One male adult member showed his determination, saying, “Many people in this region feel the vanity of life though they have a high standard of living like the words, ‘poverty in the midst of plenty.’ I will practice Mother’s love diligently so that they can be comforted and revived.”
