On April 9 [the 15th day of the first month in the sacred calendar], the day after the Passover, the Sacred Assembly of the Feast of Unleavened Bread was held to commemorate the sacrifice of Christ who bore the sins of all mankind, shedding His precious blood on the cross.

The Feast of Unleavened Bread is the day instituted to remember the suffering that the Israelites went through until they crossed the Red Sea under God’s protection and guidance after they celebrated the Passover and came out of Egypt (Exodus 14; Lev 23:6). This feast was prophetically fulfilled by Jesus as He suffered and died on the cross the day after He celebrated the Passover. The members participated in Christ’s suffering by fasting, as Jesus said, “The time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them, and on that day they will fast” (Mk 2:20).

On this day, Mother gave thanks for the holy love of Heavenly Father who endured the path of sacrifice for the sins His children committed in heaven and on earth. She also prayed that Her children, who gained life through the sacrifice of Father, would repay Him for His grace by preaching the good news of salvation to all people with the same spirit of sacrifice as Father.

General Pastor Joo-Cheol Kim explained that the Feast of Unleavened Bread is the feast of love when God suffered the agony of death for us and confirmed the promise of eternal life. He said, “In the Old Testament times, the priests of Israel sacrificed innocent animals for the forgiveness of the people’s sins. This is a historical event to show the sacrifice of Heavenly Father and Mother who have suffered for the forgiveness of our sins and for our salvation in this age. He also urged the members, “Like a kernel of wheat that dies and produces many seeds, let’s sacrifice ourselves for our brothers and sisters, resembling the mind of Christ who redeemed all mankind by sacrificing Himself, and offer ourselves willingly to the movement to save souls. By doing so, let us preach the holy love of Heavenly Father and Mother to all nations of the world (Nu 15:27-28; Lev 4:27-31; Jn 1:29; Isaiah 53; Jn 12:24-26).

The members engraved in their hearts the meaning contained in the Feast of Unleavened Bread and the love of God Elohim, and reaffirmed their commitment to bring the gospel of the new covenant to the whole world.
