Singapore Waiting for Mother’s Love

  • Nation | Singapore

In this age when the glory of God Elohim is spreading throughout the whole world, I am overwhelmed with gratitude to God for entrusting me with the mission of the gospel. Moreover, God has blessed me to carry out the overseas mission. I’m so amazed and thankful to God Elohim.

When I was entrusted with the gospel work in Singapore, I stupidly worried for a while because of the language barrier. About 70% of the population of Singapore is Chinese, and the rest is Malaysian, Indian, etc. Since people from differnt ethnic groups live together, they use various languages. I wasn’t even good at one of the languages, and it weighed heavy on my mind.

Mother was the only One who knew how I felt. She held my hands and said, “Be courageous.” Being encouraged by Mother, I shook off all my worries that had weighed down on my mind and left for Singapore, depending solely on Mother.

Heavenly Mother, the Core of the New Covenant

In February, 2006, when I arrived at the airport in Singapore, it was hard for me to breathe as if I had been in a sauna with lots of clothes. Then I realized I was in Singapore.

Singapore is a new country which became independent of Malaysia in 1965, and it is a city state smaller than Jeju Island of Korea. As it was once under the control of the U.K., it adopted much of the British culture, but the majority of people are Chinese, so its general social atmosphere is similar to that of China. In this cultural and social background, the languages, religions and living customs of different ethnic groups are harmonized together.

Singapore is noted for its strict laws and regulations, and its public security service is well organized. Actually, if anyone commits a light offense such as littering garbage on the street or eating food on public transportation, they have to pay a hefty fine. Citizens have a strong willingness to report crimes, and there are always undercover police officers around. So people need to be very careful of themselves.

Singaporeans take strong pride in their country, and they hold firm to their own views. So if they find something different from their opinion, they can’t accept it easily. The truth we preached was something new which they had never heard of before, so it was not easy for them to believe the truth even though they found it written in the Bible. Some turned back after looking at our Zion which was smaller than other churches. When I saw them, I was very distressed and frustrated. To make things worse, all the self-supporting mission volunteers including me in the Singapore Zion were not good at speaking the local languages, so it was difficult to deliver the truth to them.

I thought I should deliver even one truth correctly. It was the truth about Heavenly Mother, the core of the new covenant. In order to inform that our Church believes in Heavenly Mother, we put up a board bearing the words, “The Church of God believes in Heavenly Mother,” on the back side of the Church, and we read the Teachings of Mother before every service and gathering.

To those who visited Zion for the first time, we showed the Church promo video. As they watched what we were unable to explain with words, they began to get rid of their doubts and open their minds. After a few days, a new life was born just after listening to the truth about Heavenly Mother.

We were so happy that we felt all our frustrations were relieved. Repenting that I had not been confident in testifying to Heavenly Mother, I preached more boldly that Heavenly Mother, our Savior, came to this earth.

Example of Faith That Follows Father and Mother

By God’s grace, self-supporting mission workers came here from Korea one after another. All of them inscribed the purpose of their coming to Singapore in their minds clearly. Finding our lost heavenly brothers and sisters and helping the local members become the gospel workers—this was our only hope, and we were all united to fulfill that desire.

The most urgent thing to do was learning the language. While we were preaching Heavenly Mother, people were led to Zion one after another, but because we delivered the message only in English, there were only English-speaking people who were led to the truth.

Although the official language of Singapore was English, it was Chinese that they mainly used in their daily lives. Asking Father and Mother for help, we agreed to study both Chinese and English through the sermon book. Whenever we had a gathering for preaching, we came an hour earlier to learn the languages and then we went out to preach. While studying twice as much as we did before and preaching hard to find our lost brothers and sisters, 24 hours a day was not sufficient to us. Even though our bodies were tired, we were joyful and thankful to preach and study, thinking of the will of God who entrusted us with the gospel mission.

God was pleased with our efforts, and allowed us to improve our language competence and also to have confidence that “we can do it.” As we were able to boldly testify about Heavenly Mother in Chinese as well, more and more souls came to Zion. With the joy of seeing the good, seed-bearing fruits being gathered into the barn of Zion, all our tiredness and difficulties seemed to disappear completely.

At the beginning, the new members found it difficult to adjust to Zion due to the cultural gap, but they gradually adapted themselves to the culture of Zion as they saw the leading members embrace the brothers and sisters warmly and put into practice the love of Father and Mother silently, following Their examples. The local members began to show good manners towards God and store up heavenly rewards by positively volunteering to serve the Church. They seemed to be moved by the Korean members who diligently preached the gospel and bore many fruits despite their poor ability to speak the local languages. As they started to participate in preaching one after another, they grew into good gospel workers.

Through them, I realized something great: In order to awaken the members spiritually, it is better to show the examples of faith by following the love and sacrifice of Father and Mother than to speak a hundred words.

The Love That Has Been Waiting From Before the Creation of the World

In Singapore there are specific religious sites, where various kinds of religious groups are gathered together. Right next to Zion, there are many Islamic and Hindu temples. Even among them, there were our heavenly brothers and sisters; they came into the arms of Mother, listening to Her voice, as God said, “My sheep listen to My voice.” All of the souls had been yearning for Mother’s love.

Singaporeans believe that everyone has to work. So, not only young people work hard, but even old and retired people work at convenience stores or fast food restaurants. Although they seemed to live vigorously without economic difficulties, many of the souls were exhausted from the routines of everyday life. The souls were looking for a comfortable shelter where they could be consoled.

One of them is Sister Eve. She worked in Singapore to earn school expenses for her younger brothers since she was young. She was taking care of her family on her own by working hard to make money and sending it to her brothers, but she herself was living without any hope. It was then that she heard of the truth. What touched her the most was “love.”

In Zion, people from various ethnic and social backgrounds are gathered together. In spite of this diversity, the members of Zion are all the same; they welcome new members warmly, serve them first and give them unsparing love. Sister Eve seemed to be very amazed by the heartfelt love of the Zion members. Knowing that all the love originated from Heavenly Mother, she shed many tears.

The members, who gave her a warm welcome, had been also moved by Mother’s love and led to Zion. All of them came to Zion after listening to the truth about Heavenly Mother and their faith grew in Mother’s love. Now they continue to participate in the overseas visiting group to meet Mother personally, who is the source of love.

At the beginning, just a few members took part in the visiting group; since it was not long after they were led to Zion, I was very worried. Knowing my worries, Mother told me that they were all good fruits, being pleased with them. Just as Mother said, the brothers and sisters who visited Korea were not new members any longer when they returned to Singapore. After witnessing Mother’s overflowing love and glory, they all became the gospel workers to lead the Singapore Zion. Truly it was all thanks to the power of Mother’s great love.

The brothers and sisters themselves, who visited Korea, were living proof of God. Their every single word and action served as definite evidence of Mother’s unending love and awakened others’ faith, so it was not necessary for us the Korean members to explain to them how Mother’s love is.

I once heard Mother say to the overseas members who visited Korea, “You’ve been able to come here because Father prepared everything for you even before the creation of the world.” All things must be the same, but especially when overseas members come to Mother from across the seas, I believe it is really a miracle planned by God before the creation of the world. The miracles will continue.

The Singapore Zion Keeping in Step With the Prophecy

At present, it is the young adult group that leads the gospel work in Singapore. When we just arrived at Singapore, we hoped that the young adults who were willing to devote themselves to the gospel would come to Zion as prophesied in the Bible. God granted our wish. Due to the young workers who devoted themselves to the gospel with strong faith, the gospel is spreading in Singapore more quickly.

Deaconess Yayun, the first gospel worker of the young adult group in Singapore, is now working at the government office after graduating from the National University of Singapore. Recently, Singapore’s first female minister visited her office. At that time, the deaconess presented the minister with a copy of the translated article about our Church featured in a Korean monthly magazine and a CD of the New Songs broadcasted through a radio program in the United Sates and a Church promo video as well. This became a hot issue in the office building, and her superiors called her over every day and she testified to Heavenly Mother in front of them. Some of them acknowledged the existence of God the Mother after listening to her.

We truly gave thanks to God for allowing us to preach the salvation of Heavenly Mother even to the rulers of the world. Through the monthly magazine from Korea, which God gave us as a spiritual staff of Moses in this age, a miracle of life occurred in this far-off country.

There is a brother who was led to Zion by his daughter. He is a pilot. When he first heard the truth, he opposed his daughter’s going to our Church, believing all kinds of malicious rumors floating around on the internet. Meanwhile, his daughter handed him a copy of the translated article about our Church featured in the magazine and a CD of the New Songs broadcasted on radio in the U.S. Then he cleared up all his doubts and received a new life right after realizing the truth. As his wife refused to accept the truth, he said to her, “Why do you not trust the words of your loving husband but believe the slanderous remarks of other people?” He didn’t give up on his wife but kept on preaching to her, understanding her mind because he did the same before. During his vacation, he went to Mexico, his home country. He led all his family members, who had believed in the Catholic Church, to Zion and kept the Passover and the Sabbath with them by the grace of God.

This year, over 170 members gathered together to celebrate the Passover. When the hour of the Passover came, we were very surprised at the increased number of the members; we didn’t know exactly how many we were because we usually had worship services at our own place. Now, not only the new members but also the existing members who have celebrated the Passover year after year are greatly moved to see how many we are. Although Zion looks small at first glance and the Korean workers including the missionaries are not good at speaking the local languages, the gospel work prospers so much here. I realize once again that the gospel is truly being fulfilled by God. Through the Passover this year, the members came to have a much stronger will for the gospel.

One day, we watched a video about the Nepal Church. Looking at the scene where so many Nepalese brothers and sisters were gathered in the big and wide temple, the members said, “That’s the future of the Singapore Zion.” I was able to feel their great ambition for the gospel hidden in their hearts, and it touched me so deeply.

The members of the Singapore Church put their hearts together to find our heavenly family members scattered throughout Singapore by putting into practice the virtue of “love” which Heavenly Mother has emphasized. We believe there are surely our lost brothers and sisters who are waiting for Mother’s love somewhere out there. We will quickly deliver the love of Mother and raise the banner of Zion high for all people in Singapore, so that we can take part in fulfilling the prophecies and the glory of Father and Mother will shine brightly.
