On March 25, the Church of God Messiah Orchestra, which had been touring throughout the country, held the “Concert to Help Earthquake Victims in Chile” at the Yeomju Gymnasium in Gwangju. Over 8,000 people, including the Church members, Gwangu citizens and many public figures, filled the stadium to help Chile’s earthquake victims.

Before the concert, General Pastor Joo-cheol Kim stated the purpose of the concert, saying, “As the saying goes, ‘Joy is doubled and sorrow is halved when shared,’ I hope that this concert will be a meaningful event to share the pain of the Chilean earthquake victims and to deliver comfort and hope to them.”

Soon after, the Messiah Orchestra stepped on the stage and deeply touched the audience by various music performance—familiar classical music, Korean songs, and the New Songs which contain the joy of salvation. A citizen said, “I couldn’t take my eyes off the orchestra throughout the performance. I don’t know much about music, but it moved my soul. I hope that this overwhelming emotion will be conveyed to our global neighbors who are suffering.”

Professor Byeong-chang Gwak, General Director of the Jeonju Int’l Sori Festival, expressed his gratitude to the Messiah Orchestra for holding the meaningful concert in Gwangju, saying, “It was a really touching performance that inspired the spirit of love and sharing in the hearts of many people.”
