  • Nation | Korea
  • Date | October 08, 2010
This is the time of harvest when the spiritual wheat is gathered from all over the world. On October 8 (the first day of the seventh month in the sacred calender), the autumn feast for an abundant harvest began with the Sacred Assembly of the Feast of Trumpets.

In the Old Testament times, Moses went up Mount Sinai to receive the Ten Commandments from God, and while he was staying there for forty days, the people of Israel worshiped the golden calf, which was an idol. So Moses broke the stone tablets of the Ten Commandments which God had given him. After that, the people sincerely repented of their sin, and Moses went up Mount Sinai the second time to receive the Ten Commandments. The day when Moses came down from the mountain with the second tablets of the Ten Commandments was the Day of Atonement (the 10th day of the seventh month in the sacred calendar). In preparation for this day, the Israelites blew the trumpet of repentance from ten days before it. This is the Feast of Trumpets (Exodus 32 and 34; Lev 23:23-25).

Mother gave thanks to Father for having established the seven feasts of three times through His sacrifi ce to save His children and for allowing them to realize God’s love, and She also prayed that Her children would lead all mankind to salvation by repenting sincerely and blowing the trumpet of repentance clearly. Additionally, She hoped that Her children would all awaken by discerning this present time through the signs of disasters prevailing all over the world and would keep the feasts with all their hearts and minds.

General Pastor Joo-Cheol Kim testified that God came again to restore the destroyed feasts, and emphasized the importance of the feast which is a sign of being a heavenly child and also contains the secret of salvation. He also retraced the origin of the Feast of Trumpets and reminded the members that the sins of the ancient Israelites refl ected our sins committed in heaven. Then he spoke with emphasis, “The sins we must ‘repent’ of are the sins we committed in heaven. Complete repentance is a very important matter for us to go to the kingdom of heaven; it means to make others repent as well as ourselves,” and he urged the members to broaden the highway of salvation by blowing the trumpet of gospel loud to our family and neighbors and to our country and the whole world (Isa 33:20-22; Ps 102:12-16; 1 Jn 1:8-10; Ro 6:23; Eph 1:7-9).

The members gave thanks to God for making them the people of Zion who keep the feasts. They offered prayers for true repentance while confessing all of their past sins early in the morning and in the evening for ten days, starting from the evening of this day.
