The Heavenly Light Shining On the Land Below the Wind

  • Nation | Malaysia
  • Date | September 15, 2011
The light of God shone on me when I was struggling in this dark world. Just like a blind man’s eyes were opened, my spiritual eyes were opened, and just as a thirsty man was relieved from his thirst with a drink of water, my thirsty soul was revived through the words of life.

After receiving the truth in the Kuala Lumpur Church, I grew in faith, and I eagerly desired to work for God fully. For this I earnestly asked Mother in prayer. Finally Mother answered my prayer and opened the way. In 2009, I was sent to Kota Kinabalu and started to work as an overseer.

Kota Kinabalu is located on the northern portion of the island of Borneo. It is the capital of Sabah, known as the “land below the wind.” As soon as I arrived there, I called Mother and told Her:
“Mother, I want to please You by displaying the glory of Jerusalem here in Sabah with the power of the Holy Spirit like a burning fire.”

Now this has become a goal not only for myself, but for all the brothers and sisters in Kota Kinabalu. I truly give thanks to Heavenly Father and Mother for giving this sinful child the great blessing of working for God.

Taking first steps towards the path of Father and Mother

The gospel began to be preached in Kota Kinabalu in 2007 as some Korean brothers and sisters came to preach. Through the hard work and effort of the pioneers of faith in this age, the seed of the gospel was sown, and it grew little by little with the help and power of Father and Mother. Then I was sent here.

Although Sabah is part of Malaysia, its capital Kota Kinabalu which is a coastal city is quite different compared to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s capital city, which is situated inland. There is a big difference between the two cities in weather, environment and custom. Especially the weather here is even hotter than I’ve ever experienced, and there is often a sudden downpour. So even I, a native of Malaysia, often felt a strong sense of difference. I could imagine how much the Korean brothers and sisters tried to overcome hardships and difficulties in a foreign country whose language and environment are completely different from those of Korea.

In Kota Kinabalu there are many villages and most of them are small. Since the villages are far away from each other, we need to travel from village to village on foot to preach the gospel; it would take at least 3 or 4 hours to get from one village to another by car. Even the houses in the same village are situated quite a distance away from each other, so we have to walk a lot.
At the beginning, because of lack of gospel workers, I sometimes had to teach the truth to the members or visit a member only by myself. When it rained while I was preaching, I could not escape getting wet in rain and could not help stepping on muddy and dirty roads. Sometimes I got a little exhausted. However, whenever I felt tired, I thought about my visit to Korea.

The last time when I visited Korea, I truly felt Father and Mother’s sacrifice and love. That was when I visited the famous Seoul Tower. There I looked down at the Dongdaemun area. Actually it was a great experience to learn about the painful way which our Heavenly Mother had walked alone from one place to another to preach the gospel. Father also walked the rocky path, carrying His heavy bag and heavy stones for us, sinners. I was sad and heartbroken, and I felt thankful as well. The love and sacrifice of Father and Mother touched me and kept growing in my heart. This experience awakened my heart whenever I went through a difficult situation while preaching here in Sabah.

The small difficulties that I faced were nothing compared to the path of suffering which Father and Mother had walked alone. I felt proud and thankful that I had a chance to walk some of Father and Mother’s path. Even when I walked on a muddy road, I could still maintain a smile and put forth more strength to keep stepping forward; my feet which were covered in mud felt lighter, and my face that was wet with rain and sweat bloomed into a smile. Whenever I faced difficulty, I gained courage and power to overcome by thinking of Father and Mother’s footsteps of suffering: I became confident that I could preach the truth in any place no matter how barren it might be.

As long as I have the love and sacrifice of Father and Mother in my heart, I can proclaim the gospel with all my strength. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow . . .

Having the belief that Mother is with us

In Sabah, there are uncountable denominations. The majority of people here are poor but kind and humble. They live harmoniously without distinction of any kind, such as race, color, language, gender and so on. However, the Catholic Church and the Anglican Church are so powerful. For this reason, it was not easy to deliver the truth; people were so stubborn that they would not open their ears and minds to the truth.

Meanwhile, a short-term mission team flew from Korea. Many of our local members were moved and awakened by the Korean members who shone the glory of Father and Mother by their effort and hard work to preach and bear fruits although they found it hard to communicate with the local people due to language differences. Not long after that, six of our members visited Korea to meet Mother by joining the overseas visiting group, and they came back with the fire of the Holy Spirit. Then the flame of the gospel started to blaze up. It happened very suddenly. So many souls streamed to Zion and came back into the arms of Mother.

The members in Kota Kinabalu are awakened through Mother’s love. Whenever they hear the word “Mother,” their eyes are wet. They also share fragrances of Zion whenever they watch videos of Father and Mother; they shed tears and miss Father and Mother more. Since the purpose of Father and Mother coming to this earth is to save Their children, we as God’s children should not neglect this important task and should quickly find our lost brothers and sisters. According to Father and Mother’s wishes, we want to quickly find our lost family members and lead them to salvation.

Now all the members work for only one purpose and wish: to shorten the days of Mother’s suffering and go back to heaven where Father is. Since we preach the truth diligently to accomplish our purpose and wish, many people are continuously streaming to Zion. They are increasing in number as time passes by.

This positive result is surely not from our ability or efforts; for we have no vehicle, and the public transport system is also so poor here. That is possible because Mother is with us. We are sure that Mother is working with us, even at this moment. So, we always give thanks and praise to Mother.

Unity among all—from adults to children

Our members practice the Teachings of Mother by giving love. Each day they memorize Mother’s Teachings. Even children do it. And every Sabbath day, through what they have memorized, we teach them how to put each of Mother’s Teachings into action. They are very obedient to the Teachings of Mother because they think it is their duty as Her children.

They try to understand Mother’s unconditional love contained in each of Her teachings and strengthen their faith through their good deeds and change beautifully.

And with Mother’s love they are competing to clean up the environment of the Church— cleaning the washroom, kitchen, etc., so that Mother’s glory can shine bright.

They always share God’s grace together by teaching and studying the Bible and they never stop preaching God’s word. Wherever they go and whomever they meet, they say, “God bless you!” and, “We love you!” They always say this to their neighbors and even to strangers. Even children are preaching Mother’s love to their teachers and friends at their schools. They do all this to “give” love which they have received from Mother.

In Kota Kinabalu Zion there are many children and babies. They memorize the Teachings of Mother and learn very quickly to speak simple Korean words so that they can send their heart to Mother. Whenever I see them say the Prayer of Our Wishes so perfectly and loudly, I feel like heaven is near. With their small hands cupped over their mouths, they often shout, “Omoni (Mother)! Omoni (Mother)! We love You!” hoping that their shout will be heard by Mother in Korea.

It seems like there is no difference between adults and children in practicing Mother’s love. Whether old or young, all the members have the same love for Mother and the same desire to let other people know Mother’s love.

I learn obedience through our children in Zion. When we teach them Father and Mother’s word, no matter how easy or difficult it is, they first try to learn and follow it without questioning. Whenever I see them, I feel ashamed of myself. They pray in proper posture by putting their hands together and kneeling down, and they greet the adults politely with their hands on their belly. How sweet it is to look at those loving children! I also want to be a sweet child of Father and Mother. I can understand why God said, “Unless you become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”

Preaching throughout the land below the wind

Kota Kinabalu Zion members are from different regions of Sabah. When I ask them, “What is your goal?” they say they eagerly desire to preach to people in their hometown. Now they are setting their spiritual goals and are fostering their dreams for the gospel while planning to build Zion in their hometown to proclaim the glory of Father and Mother. Even though their villages are about 3 or 4 hours drive from Kota Kinabalu, they are ready to go and shout aloud the voice of God. Now three branch Churches have already been established in Keningau, Sasandukon and Kota Marudu.

Kota Marudu is a small village and most of the people there are rubber tappers and
fishermen. There are also many Christian denominations in that village, and the people there are quite stuck with their own churches and they do not want to listen to the truth.

However, this cannot stop us from preaching the gospel.

There is a brother who grew tremendously in faith after baptism and has now become a good gospel worker in Kota Marudu. He works during the daytime and preaches during the nighttime. Recently, he had a plan to build Zion for brothers and sisters so that he could have more members to keep the Sabbath together. Surprisingly, he has prepared wood and other materials for building Zion. I am so glad and surprised.

Now the prophesied time is close at hand. We diligently run to preach the gospel throughout Sabah, starting with three branch Churches. Wherever we go and whomever we meet, we confidently preach about Mother. The good news that Mother has come to this earth is continuously being preached throughout Sabah.

There are still many places to spread Elohim’s fragrance and love. I hope that Father and Mother will grant our wishes and let us spread the truth to other towns and races in Sabah, and I am sure that we will be able to proclaim the glory of Father and Mother to all nations of the world by the help of God.

To preach the gospel, we sometimes need to climb the hills and go through deep jungles under the scorching sun or in the pouring rain, but we are just so thankful. We always miss Mother, and we are preparing to meet Mother spiritually and physically, preaching the gospel today, too.

Here in Saba, physically we may not find many things interesting, but spiritually we
have many opportunities to obtain blessings. Mother has promised to give us many good fruits and a bigger building for Zion soon. It means that we still have many brothers and sisters to find and have many places to preach the gospel.

In Saba, you can see a beautiful and great sunset, clouds and attractive sceneries everywhere, which you may have seen in a magazine. Numerous twinkling stars are scattered in the night sky; they seem so close that it feels like I can reach for them if I stretch out my hands. Whenever I look at the bright stars and the moon in Sabah, my mind tells me that I must shine like one of the stars in heaven. That encourages me to preach the gospel even more diligently and lead many to righteousness so that I can shine like the bright stars in the sky.

Why don’t you come to this beautiful country to preach the gospel and go to heaven together?

“Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever” (Da 12:3).
