The 13th Melchizedek Literary Awards Ceremony

There was a festival of the writer prophets in the age of the Holy Spirit, who are living up to the mission of this age to praise and proclaim Christs who came as the Spirit and the Bride by their writings. At noon on December 9 (Sunday), the 13th Melchizedek Literary Awards Ceremony was held on the 12th floor of the WMC Head Office building in Bundang.

The Melchizedek Literary Awards started since 2001, aiming to display God’s glory and deliver His love by selecting the members who have literary talent. As of now, more than 35,000 writings were received and around 300 members were honored as winners. This year, the literary works were received from June 1 to July 15, and a total of 1,510 works were submitted to 11 sectors—essay, short story, children’s story, column, poem, cartoon, photo essay, English, Spanish, Chinese and student. Going through three screenings, 33 winners were selected. The ceremony was attended by around 350 members including the Head Office members who work for the publication, translation, video script writing and editing, photo taking, illustrating as well as the winners, finalists, and literary club members.
During the service of the 1st part, through praying, Mother blessed the members who make efforts for the literary mission so that they would write to display God’s glory, encourage the members and defeat Satan’s hindrance.

Mother inspired the members, saying, “There are many emotions and feelings in our hearts, but it is not that easy to express them to their true meanings. So, you have received a very good talent to describe your emotion that is moved by the Holy Spirit in beautiful writings.” She also said, “Give thanks to God for granting you the good talent, and always do the gospel work with a joyful heart and set a good example that is more beautiful than that of angels as much as you write beautiful writings.” She especially asked them to display the glory of God so that they can write to save souls, to refine people’s minds and change them beautifully, and to awaken this generation and help them prepare the oil of faith with their holy and godly lives.
General Pastor Kim Joo-cheol said that he was deeply moved by a piece of writing, and emphasized that the writing has power to move lots of people. He also said that he kept the balance of his mind with the verse, “A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life” (Gal 6:6-10). He said, “I expect that you will bear thousands times of beautiful fruit when you write even one stroke and make one sentence for the glory of God, being moved by the Holy Spirit.” He asked the members to exercise their influence in favor of the salvation of all the world, by putting the voice of God—the Spirit and the Bride—in their writings.

The video about the mission of the writer prophets who display the glory of Father and Mother, and the animated cartoon produced with “The most beautiful wings”—the winner of the children’s story sector—were played in the second part of the ceremony after the service. After watching the videos, 33 winners in 11 sectors received awards. Mother delivered the certificate of awards and gifts to them with encouragement. At the close of the awards ceremony, She asked the members once again, saying, “I hope you will lead those who have not yet listened to the truth, and the members who have just prepared the lamp without oil, to God by your gracious and touching writings,” and blessed all of the members to receive many literary awards and fruit awards in the kingdom of God.
Before and after the awards ceremony, there was held the “Mother Exhibition” in the lecture room on the 5th floor. The writings and articles that remind people of Mother’s love were on exhibition. The members read them and thought of the depth of Mother’s love that was revealed in the nature of this world, and realized again how much the writings move people.
This day, the winners thanked Elohim and gave all glory to God. Gwon Jeong-hyeon from Garak-dong, Seoul, received the gold prize for her scientific column titled, “Mother’s pain gives birth to a child.” She said that she realized more about spiritual Mother’s love and sacrifice while she worked on it. She also revealed her hope, saying, “Writings which have many beautiful expressions are good, but I think the writings that everybody can understand and be deeply moved by is better. I want to write various kinds of writings that people can feel Mother’s love a lot.” Lee Su-jin from Bungmunno, Cheongju, won the silver prize in the sector of essay. She said, “According to Mother’s words that everything is being done with the members’ utmost sincerity in Zion, I tried to honestly depict my realization and gratitude that I had in my daily life,” and added that she wanted to enlighten people to understand Mother who is the peacemaker, so that they can have peace and comfort through her writings.
The members have a sole hope to display the glory of Elohim and deliver Their love by their writings full of the Holy Spirit. Today, like every other day, a part of the New Acts, which they are writing, is delivering the fragrance of Christ to army bases, to small island countries and to our brothers and sisters and our neighbors in all parts of the world.
