Members of the Church of God in Peru With South American Passion

  • Nation | South Korea
  • Date | March 14, 2003
This year, too, the New Jerusalem Temple (Bungdang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, Korea) is continually being visited by many overseas members. Church of God members all over the world do not doubt that Korea is the blessed country, the ends of the earth in the east prophesied in the Bible, that is, the Holy Land in the last days.
March 4, 2003, 9 members (8 members from Peru and 1 from India) stepped in Korea they'd missed so much. They participated in the Bible Seminar held at Elohim Training Institute for two weeks.

There are no direct air links between Peru and Korea. They arrived at Incheon International Airport after a 48 hour flight from Peru via America and Japan. In spite of being tired, they couldn't retrain their feelings at the moment they placed their foot on the land of Korea; as soon as they landed at Incheon Airport, they were busy wiping tears from their eyes.

Reyna hardly calmed down her excitement as she got off the plane. Mauro, who came as representative of the male members at Church of God in Peru, expressed his emotion as follows: "My heart is fluttering in anticipation of seeing our spiritual Mother. Now I feel Mother's concern and love flowing in my heart." In the afternoon of the same day, Carmilo D'silva from India arrived at Incheon Airport. He spoke about the impression of his visit to Korea as follows: "I'm so happy to see the fulfillment of the Bible prophecy with my own eyes." With other members from Peru, he participated in the Bible Seminar for two weeks.

Enthusiasm and passion for learning the gospel

Day and night, the members from Peru showed a peculiar zeal for studying the Bible. Wasn't it South Americans' passion? Even the professors who had constantly taught overseas members admired their enthusiasm.

Their purity was not inferior to their passion. On March 5, big flakes of snow fell at Elohim Training Institute in the early morning. The members from Peru who had never seen snow exclaimed for joy, seeing the real snow for the first time in their lives. They shouted for joy like children and other members gave them good words, saying, "It's snow flower gift our Father has prepared for you."

On March 15, they had an special meeting with the youth of Bundang parish. They exchanged their visions in the gospel. Enrique, who's a university student, expressed his expectation toward the youth of Bundang parish, saying, "Every act of Korean youths become an example for the youth of Peru."

Thorough preparation before visit to Korea

Kim Jin-guk, Missionary of Church of God in Peru, said, "All the members of Church of God in Peru desire to visit Korea even in their dream. About 30 members who didn't accompany us this time even came to Lima Airport at dawn to see us off; they miss so much the New Jerusalem Temple in Korea. And at the last World Cup, the whole members supported the Korean team, shouting, 'Victory, Korea!' Their love for Korea is beyond imagination."

As their longing was particular, their preparation was thorough. Before they left for Korea, they learned Korean language and New Song for 3 weeks. And they practiced other things, seeing American members' visit to Korea through video tapes.

Camilo also expressed his affection for Korea and Korean members; he thanked them, saying, "I seem to see angels' brightness in your each action and word." He was from India, but he tried to be like-minded with members from Peru. His humble attitude set a good example for all members. For 2 weeks, they recognized that spiritual love exceeds the barriers of language and custom.

On March 17, the oversea members returned to their countries, comforting each other: "Now we can understand a little bit how painful it was when we parted in heaven. Let's meet again soon in heaven without parting." We expect all the members' cherished desire for the heavenly family's reunion burst into the flame of the gospel especially from Peru and India, until the last Reformation is finished.
