2003 Sacred Assembly of the Feast of Trumpets

  • Nation | South Korea
  • Date | September 27, 2003
The blessed feasts of autumn have come. On September 27 (July 10 by sacred year), people of Zion who made a covenant with God by feasts had worship services, celebrating the Feast of Trumpets.

The Feast of Trumpets originated from the Israeli history of Exodus and their desert life. While Moses stayed on Mount Sinai to receive the stone tablets of the Ten Commandments, the Israelites worshiped golden calves. Moses, who came down after 40 days, got enraged at their idolatry and threw the stone tablets to the people to be broken. After 3,000 people were killed, all the Israelites stripped off their ornaments and repented of their sin. God showed his favor to them and Moses went up to Mount Sinai again to receive the stone tablets of the Ten Commandments secondly.

Moses came down with the Ten Commandments on July 10, which is the origin of the Atonement Day. To prepare the Atonement Day, the Israel people blew trumpets on July 1. This is the origin of the Feast of Trumpets. People of Zion, who keep the new covenant, repent of their sins committed in heaven and committed in earth for the last one year, during the prayer week lasting from the Feast of Trumpets and to the Atonement Day. By doing this, saints become sanctified as the materials for the heavenly temple, and may wait for the Holy Spirit of the Feast of Tabernacles.

Through the morning and afternoon worship services, Mother gave thanks to Father God who came in the flesh and forgave all the children's sins by restoring the lost feasts in all sufferings. Mother prayed that Her children might be courageous and strong workers gathering much fruit with sharp sickle in this harvest time, and also prayed for their becoming one in love.

General Pastor Kim Joo-cheol, explaining the parable of the prodigal son in the book of Luke chapter 15, said, "Like the prodigal son repented of his sin from the bottom of his heart and returned home in the thought that he would be thankful if his father only accepts him as a servant, we will be able to return to our heavenly home after we realize we are sinners and repent of all our sins." And he told the members to spread the love of heavenly Father and Mother who carry all their sins in their stead so that they may return to heavenly home.

Through the sermon, all the members gave thanks to God, inscribing Christ's love and sacrifice on their hearts once again. As the Israelites repented of their sins of idolatry and were given the Ten Commandments, the members looked to themselves whether or not they worshiped idols visible and invisible, and prayed to bring forth fruits in keeping with repentance from broken and contrite hearts.
