Music has power to heal the body and the mind. Good songs and music have influence on building a positive mind and stable emotion. Even animals and plants are influenced by music; their growth and production are fostered. According to a study of clinical neurophysiology by Santa Ana Lab, the classical music, in particular, strikes a chord with even the sick in the vegetable state, as well as the healthy.

If the classical music that is good for emotion conceives even the mother’s love, it will obviously heal the weary body and mind. That is why the Messiah Orchestra of the Church of God carries out the nationwide concert tour with the mother’s heart this year, too.

From last July till the end of the last year, the Messiah Orchestra formed ensemble teams and held the healing concert in 34 regions around the capital area to console the modern people whose body and mind were exhausted in their busy lives. Wherever they went, they were very well-received and complimented, “We’ve been much healed from our weary and tough lives,” “We’d like to listen again,” and “Please continue to hold the performance.”

At this, the Messiah Orchestra formed chamber orchestra teams to present the blessing and grace of God Elohim to more people as well as to celebrate the year of jubilee, the 50th anniversary of the Church of God. Furthermore, the orchestra organized the program more meaningfully, and the concert is now being carried out nationwide.

The chamber orchestra consists of 10 to 35 members. This time, three teams were newly formed and they have the performance at the same time in difference places. The performance program is the same.

Their journey of healing started at three churches—the Junggu Church, the Jeongnim Church and the Seogu Church in Daejeon at 4 p.m. on February 9. To each concert, over 500 citizens and local celebrities came and were moved by various performances accompanied by men’s quartet and choir.

The concert started with the New Songs, O Merciful God and O My Dear Heavenly Home! After that, children’s songs, A Child in the Island House and Mother! Sister! which expressed waiting and yearning for mother, were performed. And Merry Go Round of Life, the theme song of the animation, Howl’s Moving Castle, and a rhythmical music, Waltz No.2 by Shostakovich were played. And the familiar soundtracks—Over the Rainbow from The Wizard of Oz , Cinema Paradiso from Cinema Paradiso that describes the friendship between a young boy who loves films and an old film projectionist, and Por Una Caveza from Scent of a Woman—excited the audience and received fervent response. As a quartet and choir sang the songs, Mother Nature, Mother of Mine, Amazing Grace, The Holy City, and Right Now Right Here, along with the orchestra performance, the audience was overwhelmed with solemnity, dignity and gravity.

The audience showed enthusiastic response. Jeong Myeong-suk (37, from Daejeon), who was invited by her acquaintance, complimented, “All the performance was wonderful. I felt like I was listening to the performance of a famous orchestra.” And she added, “Thank you very much for offering this great performance.”

Lee Mun-heui, Former Vice President of Jeongnim Elementary School in Daejeon, said, “Hearing such beautiful music under the subject of mother, I could feel the mother’s love and thankful to her. Thank you for letting us realize the grace of our mothers who gave birth to us and raised us, though late.” Jang Jeong-sun (31, from Daejeon) expressed her feeling, “Recently, I was exhausted by many difficulties. But now I feel that I’ve been much healed through this concert.”

Kim Chang-hyeon (38, from Muju, Jeonbuk Province) highly praised the orchestra members’ performance ability, saying, “They are not amateur at all, but professionals. I was really amazed and moved to tears. And my heart was healed by the mother’s sacrifice and love. I’m much surprised at the fact that you provide this premium concert for free, touring nationwide. You’re great. I’ve learned much from you.”

Bae Gui-bun the head of nearby music academy said with joy, “I thought it would be a little boring because it’s a classical music performance. But it was so touching that I couldn’t recognize how fast time was flying. My soul was healed by the music that contained the mother’s heart.”

And others, too, said, “While listening to the music, I didn’t recognize time passed by so quickly,” “I wished that I could’ve enjoyed the concert longer.”

On the 10th, the next day of the concert in Daejeon, the music performance continued in Busan, Ulsan and Suncheon. By the end of February, it continued in Gangwon, Chungcheong, Jeolla and Gyeongsang Provinces. In March, it will continue around the capital area. Totally, it will be held in 66 places for two months.

Despite busy schedules, the orchestra members are carrying out the concert joyfully to heal the body and mind of the weary and heartbroken people with the mother’s love. We pray that overflowing blessing of God Elohim will be upon their tour.
