While the movement to preach to seven billion people around the world was being carried out actively, the autumn feasts arrived, starting from the Feast of Trumpets. The Sacred Assemblies of the Feast of Trumpets, the Day of Atonement, and the Feast of Tabernacles are recorded in the Bible as the feasts in the third time among the seven feasts in three times, and God promised to grant us the forgiveness of sins and the latter rain of the Holy Spirit through these feasts. The members of the Church of God in over 2,500 places around the globe kept the feasts holy, hoping for the rapid accomplishment of the mission to save the whole world by receiving the promised Holy Spirit abundantly from God.

The Feast of Trumpets: Blow the trumpets to urge all people to repent
At the Sacred Assembly of the Feast of Trumpets on October 2 (the first day of the seventh month by the sacred calendar), Mother earnestly prayed that heavenly children, who had committed sins in heaven and on earth, would be clothed with the grace of complete forgiveness by confessing their sins with a con-trite heart, and lead many people wandering spiritually in darkness to repentance and to the way of salvation.

General Pastor Kim Joo-cheol explained the origin of the Feast of Trumpets and said in his sermon, “As Jesus asked for repentance while preaching the gospel, only those who repent can be given the blessings of heaven. Let us never forget the sacrifice of Christ who even endured the pain of crucifixion for sinners. And let us repent wholeheartedly and turn all people from sin, just as Apostle Paul and Jonah did” (Lev 23:23–24; Mt 4:17; Ps 7:11; Rev 3:16–19; Ac 21:11–13; Jnh 2; 3).

The Prayer Week was from the evening of the Feast of Trumpets till the early morning of the Day of Atonement. The members repented of their sinful nature that they had not thrown off even while living in the grace of God, and prayed that the great blessing of the forgiveness of sins would be bestowed upon them.

The Day of Atonement: Ruminate on God’s teaching in order not to sin again
All the members around the world, who had repented, bowing low before God, early in the mornings and in the evenings for ten days, attended the Sacred Assembly of the Day of Atonement on October 11 (the tenth day of the seventh month by the sacred calendar).

Mother, who had offered up mournful prayers for Her children during the prayer week, longing for their sins to be atoned, repeatedly prayed that Her children would receive the forgiveness of sins, never sin again, and hold fast to the crown of life with firm faith. At Mother’s earnest prayer, the members engraved Her will upon their hearts, shedding tears and saying “Amen.”

General Pastor Kim Joo-cheol gave thanks to God for walking the thorny path to become the atoning sacrifice for our unforgivable sins, and said with emphasis, “Let us remember that God the Father and God the Mother have suffered and sacrificed so much until our sins are passed on to Satan. We need to change both our heart and life to stay away from sin. Let us never get involved in sins again, but live a worthy life according to God’s will” (Jn 1:29; Isa 53:4; Lev 4:27–31; Rev 20:10; 2 Co 7:9–10; Lk 15:3–7).

The members prepared for the Feast of Tabernacles with a resolution that they would no longer sin but live good and righteous lives in accordance with the will of God.

The Feast of Tabernacles and the Last Day of the Feast: Receive the latter rain of the Holy Spirit for the salvation of Mankind
Five days after the Day of Atonement, the Sacred Assembly of the Feast of Tabernacles was held. The Feast of Tabernacles originated from the work of building the tabernacle according to God’s command to place the Ten Commandments that God had given to the Israelites a second time. On October 16 (the fifteenth day of the seventh month by the sacred calendar), the members worldwide headed to their churches with excitement to keep the feast that has the promise of the blessings of the Holy Spirit.

Mother earnestly prayed that all Her children, who had been purified, would receive the latter rain of the Holy Spirit abundantly and that the work of saving the world, which is impossible by human abilities, would be accomplished by the power of the Holy Spirit. Mother asked them, “Let us not put out the fire of the Holy Spirit. With one mind and one voice, let us preach the gospel and deliver the water of life to all people in the world.”

General Pastor Kim Joo-cheol explained that when the Israelites received the forgiveness of sins, their hearts were moved and they willingly brought materials for the tabernacle during their journey through the wilderness, and he exhorted, “The materials for the tabernacle stand for the heavenly children. Our mission is to deliver the words of God in season and out of season, giving thanks to God for the forgiveness of sins, and to lead the heavenly children to Zion.” He reminded the members of eternal blessings and rewards in the kingdom of heaven, and wished all of them to put their efforts into the gospel work so that they can shine like the stars in heaven (Jer 5:14; Eph 2:22; Ex 35:4–26; 2 Ti 4:1–5; Mt 28:18–20; Da 12:1–3; 1 Th 2:3–4).

After the Sacred Assembly of the Feast of Tabernacles, the Preaching Week of the Feast of Tabernacles was held for seven days. Just like the Israelites who were moved by God’s grace of the forgiveness of sins and willingly brought materials for the work of building the tabernacle, the members gave thanks to God for the grace of atoning their sins and devoted themselves to the mission of evangelists.

On October 23, when the Preaching Week ended, the worship service for the Last Day of the Feast of Tabernacles was held. Mother blessed Her children, who had tried their hard-est to accomplish the mission of the gospel, with the latter rain of the Holy Spirit, and hoped that the movement of the Holy Spirit would be actively carried out all over the world and the prayers they had offered during the feast would be all answered.

At the morning service, General Pastor Kim Joo-cheol explained the work of building the tabernacle on the Feast of Tabernacles and its meaning: “The Holy Place and the Most Holy Place represent God the Father and God the Mother who give the water of life for the healing of the nations. Believing the prophecies, let us preach the gospel of the new covenant boldly to all people around the world” (Heb 8:5; Jn 2:20–21; 1 Ki 6:14; Rev 21:9–16; Eze 47:1–12).

At the afternoon service for the Last Day of the Feast of Tabernacles, the final feast of the year, Mother Herself gave a sermon under the title, “Our Citizenship Is in Heaven.” Mother bestowed the blessings of the Holy Spirit upon the members who had worked hard for the gospel while praying early in the mornings and in the evenings. Saying, “Those whom God saved through His sacrifice on the cross are the citizens of the kingdom of heaven,” Mother awakened them to the virtues that the citizens of heaven must have. Mother emphasized love and godliness, in particular: “The children of God who is love must not conform to the pattern of this wicked generation but train themselves to be godly.” Mother also encouraged Her children in their faith: “When you change with love and godliness, and arise together with the power of the Holy Spirit, our dispersed heavenly family members will all be found” (Php 3:19–21; 1 Co 13:4–13; 1 Ti 4:6–7; 2 Pe 3:6–14).

The members deeply gave thanks to God for bestowing abundant blessings and grace through the seven feasts in three times, and resolved to complete the great work of preaching to seven billion people with love and the Holy Spirit, living godly and faithful lives, and staying away from sin in everything.
