The Bible has been touching the hearts of people all around the world for thousands of years. It is a spiritual guidebook containing “writings” which many prophets, including Moses, David, Solomon and Paul, wrote when they were moved by the Holy Spirit. Beyond time and space, the Bible conveys God’s love and grace to numerous souls. Thus, the writings that contain God’s will exert a much stronger power than any other kind of writing.

On December 6, a meaningful event was provided for the literary writers of Zion, who had been playing an important role in world mission by expressing God’s glory in writing. The “10th Melchizedek Literary Awards Ceremony” was held at the WMC Head Office. This event was attended by the literary award winners and finalists as well as the local reporters who had been conveying the gospel news throughout the country. They all reaffirmed their will to produce good writings.

Mother was pleased to see how much progress had been made in the field of literary mission, and planted in their hearts confidence as Melchizedek literary writers who promote faith among the members of the heavenly family throughout the world. In addition, She encouraged them, saying, “Pray that you can produce writings containing love and hope for the salvation of souls no matter what hardships or difficulties you may face. Express God’s holy sacrifice and the truth more valuably, so that you will receive many rewards in heaven.”

General Pastor Joo-Cheol Kim gave thanks to God for having led the literary mission until the tenth anniversary of the Melchizedek Literary Awards Ceremony, and asked the literary writers to devote themselves to writing while improving their talents in writing more diligently. He also reminded them of the mission as the literary writers, saying, “Let’s produce writings that inspire the spirit of the gospel, so that all the souls around the world can feel God’s glory and love to the fullest anytime and anywhere, not only through publications but also many other kinds of mass media including the Internet.”

After the commemoration worship service, there was a special presentation of an essay titled “Mother’s Dining Table” that was made into a video—one of the winning works in the essay category, which describes in a quiet and sincere style the writer’s regret and reflection on herself who was indifferent to her mother’s sacrifice in her childhood. Accompanied with illustrations, this video essay gave the audience a touching impression.

Shortly after, the awards ceremony began. The 10th Melchizedek Literary Awards received entries in the categories of poetry, essay, short story and “my faith” written in some languages—Korean, English, Chinese and Spanish. After the third screening, 23 winners were selected. A merit award was presented to the member who had been contributing to the growth of literary mission in the category of illustration.

Mother granted each winner an award certificate and extra prize, and blessed all the participants to be international literary writers.

The winners conveyed their impressions by saying, “What we’ve given to God is too small. Nevertheless, God gives us great encouragement and courage. We are very thankful to God. From now on, we will have a wider view of the gospel and write the writings of life that awaken this generation.” The participants expressed their firm will, saying, “We’ve realized again how important the mission of a writer is. We will display God’s glory by putting the spirit of faith in each and every sentence.”

For the last part of the event, the participants visited the Church of God History Museum. They took a look around at 8 Halls one after another—Heaven’s Hall, the Old Testament Hall, the New Testament Hall, the Dark Ages Hall, Heavenly Father’s Hall, Heavenly Mother’s Hall, the Church of God Hall, and the Future Hall. Going through each Hall, they could feel the history of the gospel and the path of sacrifice which Father and Mother had walked; they engraved deep in their hearts the grace and emotion they felt, and repeatedly resolved to fulfill their God-given mission as the literary prophets.

In this age when the gospel of the new covenant is being preached to all people throughout the world, the Melchizedek literary writers, who have received the power of the Holy Spirit, will lead the hearts of people around the world to God through touching writings full of Elohim’s love.
