Until the Highest Peak of the Gospel Rises High Over the World

  • Nation | Nepal|
  • Date | December 21, 2010
Have you ever seen a mountain that pokes through the sky? Yes, this is Pokhara in Nepal where most of the Himalayas, which boast of the world’s highest peaks, are located.

From the Pokhara Zion, we can see the entire Annapurna* range. In this rainy season, it is surrounded by clouds, but on sunny days it reveals its true majesty.

I had been working as an assistant overseer in Kathmandu, Nepal, and in July, 2007, I was given the mission of preaching the gospel in Pokhara. I still remember the emotions I felt when I first came to Pokhara. At that time, I became speechless at the fascinating scenery seen from the window. Words cannot express the magnificence of the mountain which supports the sky! That day, we made a pledge together.

“Let us fully carry out the mission of preaching the gospel, so it can rise high over the whole world like that mountain!”

A golden field where we reap as much as we sow

When I first arrived in Nepal, I was very surprised. There were so many snake idol images and pictures in every street and house, which even gave shivers up and down my spine. In Nepal, Hinduism is the dominant religion, and Hindus regard snakes as sacred.

Even in this unfavorable situation, the glory of Elohim shone forth brightly.
Centering on Kathmandu the capital of Nepal, Zion was continuously established in many other regions, and the gospel of the new covenant was being accomplished prosperously.

The gospel in Pokhara started in 2004 when two members of the Kathmandu Church began to preach the truth to their family in Pokhara, their hometown. Their family members came all the way to Kathmandu to attend worship services; it took 6-7 hours for them to arrive at Zion. This moved the members of the Kathmandu Church, and some of them went on a short-term mission trip to Pokhara to build Zion there. As the number of members increased, people’s slander and persecution became harsher. However, the members who kept the fervor for the gospel endured the suffering firmly. They shed a lot of tears and sweat, and as a result, the Pokhara Zion was finally established.

It was the same for me. The only thing in my mind was that I had to quickly find my brothers and sisters scattered here by shining the light of truth brightly. Actually I was somewhat afraid because I could not speak Nepali well and I was also lacking in many ways, but I made up my mind to repay God’s grace, giving thanks to God for giving me the great blessing and opportunity to preach the gospel in Nepal.

Hinduism in Nepal embraces a great diversity of beliefs, so even when it comes to the Bible, people are willing to listen to it. However, Hinduism is a polytheistic religion with many goddesses, and probably because of that, they respond indifferently when we preach Elohim. First of all, we had to let them know that the Bible is fact. Since Indians learn Hindu doctrines from the cradle, most of them still believe that the earth is held up by animals. So through scientific evidence we had to make it clear to them that the Bible is not myth or fiction but fact. And we also testified that our only Creator and true God, who fulfills the prophecies precisely without a hitch, is Elohim, our Heavenly Father and Mother.

Then everyone who listened understood the Bible. However, because of lack of time, we could not preach to them fully. For people here, Hinduism is life itself, beyond a simple religion, so it is not easy for them to be freed from the fetters of Hinduism. Despite all that, whoever listened to the Word came to God. How happy and excited we were! The harder we preached the gospel, the more fruits God granted us.

It reminded me that the Bible says, “A man reaps what he sows.” Nepal was a golden field for the gospel and a blessed country which God had prepared.

Indescribable yearning for Mother

For me there is a mystery that still remains unsolved: How can the members have such a sincere and burning heart toward Heavenly Father and Mother? Though I see their gracious attitude with my own eyes, I cannot really explain it.

The people, who have known neither God nor the Bible, fear and serve God with all their hearts from the moment they realize the truth, and obey the will of God with 100 percent faith. They also dress neatly, act properly and willingly volunteer for Zion even in difficult circumstances, following the example of the leading members, even though no one tells them to do so.

Sometimes I get into a funk because I am worried that I may lead the members, who only follow the will of God with clear and twinkling eyes, according to my own thoughts unknowingly. So I always pray that I will be able to lead the members to the way Mother wants them to go.

It is really beautiful and heartbreaking to see how fervent their minds toward Mother are. Whenever I deliver a sermon about Mother’s love and sacrifice, many members, regardless of age, shed tears. I once saw a male adult member crying ceaselessly even after the service. They all miss Mother so much, but they cannot meet Her, and that is why their yearning for Mother pierces their hearts so deeply.

Some of them were barely able to visit Korea to meet Mother, but in Nepal’s difficult economic situation it is actually almost impossible for the Nepalese members to visit Korea.

So I want to convey Mother’s love to the members all the more, but I find it difficult to do so due to the language barrier. I myself am still poor at speaking Nepali, and most of all, there is a very limited number of words that can express Mother’s heart and love.

For example, I want to tell them that as they miss Mother a lot, so Mother also misses Her children very much, but in Nepali there is no word for “miss.” There is no other way to explain it than just saying, “I want to meet Mother.” This makes me so frustrated.

I want to fully convey the great emotion and grace I have received from Mother to them, but I can’t because of my limited language ability. So I am really heartbroken. Is this not the same kind of heart as that of Father and Mother—the anxious and frustrated mind which cannot be expressed in any words on this earth?

I always say sorry to the members and ask them to understand that I cannot convey Mother’s love fully to them because of my poor language ability. I also pray earnestly in my heart that Mother’s love will be transmitted heart to heart.

I believe that the language of the gospel is a sincere heart. The members have clean and pure souls, and they have engraved deeply in their hearts Mother’s love that cannot be fully expressed in words. And this has become the driving force of the gospel in Nepal.

The souls who feed on dreams

ⓒ 2010 WATV
“I love you all so much. God bless you!”
Mother asks me to make sure to convey these words to the members in Pokhara, whenever I call Her. Hearing the words from Mother, they all shed tears of gratitude.

Mother has bestowed the overflowing blessings of the Holy Spirit on the Pokhara Church from the beginning until now. Being encouraged by the love of Mother, the members put a lot more effort into the gospel. As a result, the Pokhara Church, which had a humble beginning, increased twice in the number of members within a half year and increased twice again within a year. So we expanded the Church in 2008. The extended Zion was soon filled with the members, and the 2nd Pokhara Zion was established this year. Even after the Church branched out, good fruits were continuously borne one after another and now over 700 members share the heavenly hope together.

We always have a dream and goal. When Zion was first established, our goal was to double the number of members. After that, it was our goal to extend the Church, and after expansion our goal was to branch out. All the goals have been fulfilled.

However, this is not the end. We are planning to establish Zion also in Baglung, which is three hours away from Pokhara.

The members go by turns on a short-term mission trip to Baglung. With a goal to establish Zion in Baglung within this year, they preach the Word diligently while praying to God with one mind and heart. Recently a few members have started a house Church in Baglung. Although it has been just a few weeks since it started, many souls have been led to Zion and they are growing quickly in their faith.

Even though their dream has been accomplished, they are not satisfied with it; they have another dream—a new, bigger dream. After they have achieved their goal, they make another goal. When Zion is established in Baglung, they will establish Zion in another region. So the dreams, which they will fulfill from now on, are infinite and endless. Now Zion has already been established in many cities in Nepal, but there are still a lot of regions where we have to go. Since so many people do not yet know the love of Mother, how can we stop here?

In Pokhara alone, there are over 400,000 people. I desire that the kingdom of God will be established everywhere so that all souls in Pokhara can hear Mother’s voice. In addition, I wish that the members’ desire for the banner of Zion to flutter in their hometowns will also be fulfilled soon.

We are the souls who feed on dreams. Until we go back to the kingdom of heaven, we will always dream for the gospel and accomplish it. So, the Pokhara Church cannot rest.

Until rising high over the world

Just as a crouching frog jumps higher and farther, the prophecies that have been condensed so far are now spreading their wings and are being fulfilled. In Nepal as well, we have been able to observe the amazing fulfillment of the prophecy that kings will come to God and worship Her.

As the prophecies are being fulfilled quickly, Mother who personally leads the gospel work is unable to rest. We cannot just watch Mother’s appearance being disfigured day after day while taking care of all Her children throughout the world.

The only thing we can do to shorten the days of Mother’s sacrifice is to find our lost brothers and sisters. We, who have lived only for ourselves, are now putting our whole heart and strength into the Ten Talent Movement to repay the grace of Mother who has saved Her children, beyond the line of death.

The gospel in Pokhara starts early in the morning every day. The young adult and male adult members, who don’t have enough time to preach the gospel because of their jobs, gather together at dawn to deliver the Word before they go to work.

After finishing their work late at night, they also come to Zion to arm themselves with God’s word before they go home. Since they have a strong determination to return to their heavenly home with Mother after finding their lost brothers and sisters as quickly as possible, they do not even want to take a rest, saying that they want to temporarily put off taking a rest on this earth because they will have eternal rest in heaven.

Pokhara offers magnificent views of high peaks, and it is also well known as the city which gets the heaviest rain fall in Nepal. It is rain that is most necessary for thirsty souls, isn’t it?

Mother is pouring out the rain of life abundantly on Pokhara. Even at this moment, the members are running the race diligently so that all souls in Pokhara can be revived through the water of life. Until the kingdom of God is established not only in Pokhara but in all 75 zilas (districts), we will proclaim the salvation of Heavenly Mother, being united with all other Zions in Nepal.

Today, like every other day, the high mountains, surrounded by clouds, stand high towards the sky. We pledge to make the Pokhara Zion stand higher than the mountains.

We will never rest until the Pokhara Church, which has grown with enough love from Mother, rises high above the world and shines the glory of the holy Elohim brightly. Heavenly Father and Mother, please receive eternal glory from all nations!

Mic 4:1-2 『In the last days the mountain of the LORD’s temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and peoples will stream to it. Many nations will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.” The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.』
