On November 4, the Church of God in Daejeon area and the Elohim Training Institute held 񟭄 Party for the Seniors in Yeongdong.' About 50 Church members visited 'Yeongdong Women Hall' in Chungcheong North Province, with various kinds of food. In this event about 700 senior citizens in that area attended and had a joyful day with wholeheartedly-prepared food and performances.

The Church members attended on the seniors as if they'd done on their own parents, saying, "I want to become their children today." They helped the aged to the event place by holding their arms and served at table for the elders with little strength. They also explained the kinds of food and let them know where they were for those who could not see well. The members did their best so that the seniors might feel comfortable, asking them kindly if they needed anything or if the food tasted nice.

Meanwhile, some performances were presented on the small stage beside the dining hall so that the seniors could have lunch joyfully. Two singers created a bright atmosphere by singing continually for 3 to 4 hours, saying, "Although we are not cute, please enjoy us as if we were your grandchildren." Some elders who were so excited danced and sang songs.

They held the Church volunteers' hands or patted their backs, saying, "The food is more delicious than the food at home," "Thank you, thank you so much." An old lady named Chun-bok Lee sang a folk song and said, "I felt so excited, I am very happy now. Who can make me so happy like this? How thankful! Thank you so much."

After lunch, each of seniors was given a small souvenir. A volunteer said, "I don't feel tired as I serve them with delight. I'm so happy as if I prepared food for my parents' birthday." Pastor Gang-min Lee said, "We held this event to share love with our seniors who live lonely. We've only followed the teaching of God, "Love your neighbor." We hope that this society becomes a place where people are dutiful to their parents and seniors, and be united."

The Church members' loving neighbors didn't stop here. The General Pastor Joo Cheol Kim and other pastors donated through 'CJB Special Project--Society That Respects the Old, Fund Raising to Send Oil for the Old' which was cosponsored by CJB (Cheongjoo Broadcasting) and Chungcheong North Province Welfare Fund-raising Association. The General Pastor Kim said, "We prepared this fund, hoping the seniors in Yeongdong live a warm winter," at an interview with the broadcasting station.

He also donated a scholarship fund to Yeongdong Inhabitants Scholarship through the country headman, Mun-ju Son. The headman said, "I give thanks to the Church of God who always takes lead in good things."

The Church of God holds big and small events for the seniors and visits the aged who live lonely in Yeongdong every year. The warmth of humans is needed more in the time of difficulty. When we become more active in sharing neighbors' pains and preaching the love of God, this world will be better.
