On December 1, Hyeon-soon Chah who is a member of the Church of God received an award from Gun-pyo Hong, Bucheon City Mayor, at the monthly awarding ceremony in Bucheon City Hall.

She did not tell anyone about her being awarded and went alone to the City Hall and received the award. She said, "I didn't tell anyone because I was ashamed of receiving an award for doing nothing. I didn't receive this award because I did something good, but because I tried to put into practice the teachings of God. I believe that God has allowed me this award to give me strength and courage so that I can nurse my mother-in-law better. I will do my best to practice the love of God, nursing my mother-in law."

She said that she was consoled and given strength a lot at the meeting after the awarding ceremony as the City Mayor Gun-pyo Hong encouraged and praised her, saying, "I know well how hard it is to take care of a patient who is stricken with paralysis, because my mother also suffered from palsy for 3 years until she died. You are very patient even though you are still young. You are great. If you keep serving your parents well, I am sure that you will be blessed." Officials of Bucheon city said that they had decided to award her because she'd been serving her palsied mother-in law with all her heart for a long time, always smiling.

Hyeon-sun Chah and her husband volunteered nursing her mother-in-law who was suddenly stricken down with cerebral apoplexy in winter in 2000. What made the situation worse was that her mother-in-law also had schizophrenia. However, she had been doing the best to nurse her, overcoming all the hardships for more than 3 years by faith in God. Her neighbors said that they could not even imagine that she was nursing, because she was always smiling with a bright face.

Her good deed was once introduced on the Church of God's monthly magazine, "The 144,000 Standing on Mount Zion,' in October, 2004. "Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you" (Deut. 5:16). This reporter hope that all the people in the world do human's duty by true faith in God like Hyeon-sun Chah, so that this world may be filled with happiness and joy.
