It is very blessed to have a great teacher in our life. From this point of view, we are the most blessed people because we have met Elohim, our true Teachers, who lead us to the eternal kingdom of heaven.

God, who is our true Teacher, came to this earth and walked the path of suffering for our salvation. When He was oppressed and afflicted, He did not open His mouth. He silently endured scorn, despise and insult from men. By the endurance and sacrifice of God, our souls have been healed and saved.

Truly giving thanks to God for His grace, let’s take time to think over what kind of faith we should have in following the way of Christ.

A deep well

When we describe a person who has a broad mind, we say he is a man with a “deep heart.” Such a man is calm and considerate. He rarely stumbles, and makes people feel encouraged, so people naturally gather around him.

One day, I read an article titled “A Deep Well.” In the article it is said that we can tell how deep a well is when we throw a stone into the well. When a stone is thrown into a shallow well, it reaches the bottom of the well right away and makes a noise, but when a stone is dropped in a deep well, it takes time for the stone to reach the bottom and barely makes a noise and it leaves reverberation as deep as the depth of the well.

In the same way, we can fathom the depth of a person’s heart by his response to the words thrown to him. If he is easily upset and wavers by others’ words that are unfavorable, it shows that his heart is shallow. A man who has a deep heart does not react right away to what someone says to him, but accepts it silently. Around this man, people gather, quench their thirst and get refreshed.

If we want to have a deep faith, we need to deepen our heart. Unless our heart is deep, it will not contain a deep faith.

The faith of our forefathers, who were blessed by God, was like a deep well.

Heb 11:6-19 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith. By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God. …

Noah had built an ark for a long time, following the order of God. Despite all kinds of slanders and ridicules of the people around him, he did all that God commanded him and saved his family from the flood. Abraham also obeyed God’s word in any situation. Even when God commanded him to offer his son Isaac as a sacrifice to Him, he obeyed Him, so he was called the “forefather of faith.”

Their faith was not shaken by men. They had a faith like a deep well, which did not waver in any situation or circumstance, so that they could please God and be saved together with their families.

Destiny of those who have a shallow faith

Like the forefathers of faith, we should have a deep faith. People, whose faith is shallow and wavers at small words from others, cannot even take care of themselves, let alone save others. At the time of the Exodus, over six hundred thousand Israelites failed to enter the land of Canaan, and they were all destroyed in the desert. This is related to the depth of their faith.

1 Co 10:1-5 For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers, that our forefathers were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea. They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea. They all ate the same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ. Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them; their bodies were scattered over the desert.

God was not pleased with most of the Israelites who were on the journey to Canaan. When we consider the verse in Hebrews 11, “Without faith it is impossible to please God,” we can reason that the Israelites did not please God because they did not have a deep faith, and that they grumbled, being agitated by their surroundings, and were killed at the end.

1 Co 10:6-12 Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did. Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written: “The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in pagan revelry.” We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did—and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died. We should not test the Lord, as some of them did—and were killed by snakes. And do not grumble, as some of them did—and were killed by the destroying angel. These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come. So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!

The Israelites witnessed the ten plagues brought upon the land of Egypt and also the power of God who divided the Red Sea. However, they didn’t have a deep faith and easily wavered at small inconveniences.

Even though they experienced various miracles and signs of God, they did not bear temporary hunger and thirst, but grumbled right away, saying, “Why have You brought us out into this desert to have a hard time like this?”

Those who grumbled against God, tested God and worshiped idols did not enter Canaan, but were all destroyed in the desert. This is a warning for us who are walking in the spiritual desert by the grace of God who has redeemed us from this sinful world; if we are shaken by some unfavorable surroundings and ungracious words from others, we are not different than the Israelites. God weighs the depth of our faith in various conditions and situations.

The brothers and sisters of Zion must all have a deep faith. Even though our faith was weak and we were lacking in many ways when we started our life of faith, as years pass by, the depth of our faith should be deepened.

Jerusalem, the well of salvation, never gets dry

We are granted a deep well whose depth cannot be fathomed. That is the well of salvation where the water of life springs up endlessly.

Isa 12:1-6 “ … Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.” With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. In that day you will say: “Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted. Sing to the LORD, for he has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world. Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you.”

Every day, we are drawing water from the well of salvation, which is so deep that it never dries at any drought. We are to fill our hearts with the water of life that is drawn from this well.

Zec 14:7-8 It will be a unique day, without daytime or nighttime—a day known to the LORD. When evening comes, there will be light. On that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem, half to the eastern sea and half to the western sea, in summer and in winter.

The well of salvation, where the water of life flows to the eastern sea and to the western sea in four seasons, is our Heavenly Mother (Gal 4:26). Our Heavenly Mother is not tossed about in the storms of life at all, but silently endures all sufferings in order to find Her lost heavenly children, like a deep well. Mother is the well of living water that flows endlessly even if we draw the water over and over again.

In this age, the water of life endlessly flowing from Jerusalem is quenching the souls of the people who come from all around the world to appease their thirst, and is leading them to the kingdom of heaven.

Eze 47:1-12 … I saw water coming out from under the threshold of the temple toward the east (for the temple faced east). The water was coming down from under the south side of the temple, south of the altar. He then brought me out through the north gate and led me around the outside to the outer gate facing east, and the water was flowing from the south side. As the man went eastward with a measuring line in his hand, he measured off a thousand cubits and then led me through water that was ankle-deep. He measured off another thousand cubits and led me through water that was knee-deep. He measured off another thousand and led me through water that was up to the waist. He measured off another thousand, but now it was a river that I could not cross, because the water had risen and was deep enough to swim in—a river that no one could cross. … “ … When it empties into the Sea, the water there becomes fresh. cross of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live … Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing.”

The water of life flowing from Jerusalem becomes a deep river, flows into the sea, and makes all things fresh. According to this prophecy, the water of life flows out from Jerusalem to the Five Oceans and the Six Continents, and awakens all nations. In this age, we, who are supplied with the water of life every day, should deepen and broaden our minds all the more. As the children of Jerusalem, we must resemble our Heavenly Father and Mother and have a heart as deep as the well. Then we can have a deep faith; and when we have a deep faith, we can draw water from the well of salvation and deliver it to thirsty souls.

We should have a heart deep enough to revive all people around the world as children of God Elohim, unlike shallow people who respond immediately with waves when a small stone is thrown into the well of their hearts. Since we are raised through the teachings of Jerusalem Mother, we are to have a deep heart like Mother’s, and quench the thirst of a thousand or ten thousand people.

Let’s participate in the divine nature by having a deep faith

Apostle Peter emphasizes that the saints, who will change and enter the spiritual world, should change in their personality and participate in the divine nature even while they are on this earth.

2 Pe 1:4-11 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ … and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The faith, which contains goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness and love, can be called a deep faith that is not shaken by the waves of life. Enumerating the works of the forefathers of faith such as Noah and Abraham who had a deep faith like a deep well, God tells us to have a heart deep enough to enable us to participate in the divine nature.

Our spirits should resemble the deep spirit of Jerusalem Mother. By doing so, we can build a deep faith and live a noble and godly life as Father and Mother have taught us, so that we can declare the praises of God through our good deeds (1 Pe 2:9-12).

We should not be like foolish people who had a great will yesterday but give it up today after being enraged at a small thing. We, people of Zion, should all become vessels great enough to participate in the divine nature and to contain living water from the well of salvation, so that we may fulfill the mission to quench the thirst of all people around the world.

For this, we need to have a deep heart. Let’s change ourselves first, not waiting for our surroundings and other people to change. If each of us changes, the world will change. We may suffer hardships until our inner beings change completely. There is nothing we can gain easily in the world. In order to obtain the precious treasures, we need to undergo various difficulties. So God asked us to hold on to the crown of life that each of us has, so that we will never be deprived of it.

I hope that we, the people of Zion, will have a heart and faith deep enough to embrace all the stones that are thrown to us with the divine nature, so that we can revive the whole world with the living water drawn from the well of salvation.
